The beach, rehearsels, J-Lo, Monster High and false eyelashes.
The day after I published my last post, my grandparents came and due to spending time with them (as much as I enjoyed it),  I have been sort of busy. Well, to start it off, my parents went to Boston (WITHOUT US!!) last Sunday. I wasn't really sure how our whole week would work out without our van (my grandparents aren't allowed to drive it according to our permission) and parents. But of course, it was fun and everything worked out great!
Last Friday, I went to a math competition with Lore and Pao. It was pretty awkward before we started the test because as we waited for the instructions, everyone else talked with whoever else came from their school but since I am the only one from my grade who came, I sat in my chair and busied myself with my nails. Everyone else started pulling out compasses (like the ones they show in Pirates of the Carribean) and transporters while I only had a pencil that Monica gave me later!!
Here is the latest news: Oscar and I didn't go to either soccer practices because the first time, Oscar had a fever and stuff and when he doesn't go, neither do I. On Thursday, I was really tired and so were my grandparents so we decided to skip practice then, too. It was actually a really good idea because I had some surprise homework that took longer than I expected!
We had three hours to do the math test and I am pretty sure that I got 2/4 problems right! When I finished, I walked out the door and was warmly greeted by Lore. We were both in post-test-giddy phase so I loved hanging out with her then!!
So there was a dance competition next Thursday and Eloina forced our class to participate. (At first, it was 'whether you like it or not you have to do it. ' But then because of the lack of "ganas" (something that roughly means motivation) that our class was showing, they offered the class a deal that involved a half day off and better grades for the people who did it but not only participated, but also the ones that tried hard. In the end, I believe everyone chose the one in which we get school off!) Our dance is an adapted version of our Christmas dance but longer, with more moves and to the song "Dance Again" by Jennifer Lopez and featuring Pitbull. The lyrics definitely raise an eyebrow but since it is in English, most don't understand it. I wonder if we would be still be dancing to it if they knew what it meant but since the dance teacher is also the English teacher, I think it would still probably happen. Here are some of the lyrics: "I love to make love to you baby," and  "so many ways want to touch you tonight," and "I want to dance and love and dance again," and "baby your fire is lighting me up," etc.
I planned to dress up like a female soldier doll (we all have to be toys). The idea for that costume lasted until a couple days before the event when Rosie, Eloina, Karla, Mafer, Lore and I took a trip to costume central of all Mexico. Maybe I am exaggerating a little, but Eloina has SO many costumes and dresses (she saves any costume from her daughter who does ballet and rythmic gymnastics). Just by looking at the huge array of costumes, the teachers started finding things that would be prettier on me. First they pulled out a full-length tight blue jump suit. It felt a little weird but the worst part was the little hat that came with it. Then they pulled out a form-fitting bright pink and black dress. It has a leotard built in and it is long-sleeved. One sleeve is made of like see-through material and has sequins on it, someone nice always had to be their to ease the sort of scratchy part over my recent sunburns from Boca del Cielo which I will tell about later.
The day of the presentation, I didn't go to school as was in the contract (tee-hee!) so after a little TV, I set about making the food for the day and then my dad dropped me off at Kevin's house after I listened to a little Nicki Minaj ("Starships," by the way, which seems to be the music perfect for when I am nervous and really any other time!!). I arrived and all the girls were there as planned as the teachers got their makeup on. Lore helped me get dressed in my dress and I put my new awesome-colored fleece on and got my make-up done. After the change of costume and character, I think I was a dancer or something so Margarita painted my face with blue and yellow eye-shadow with lots of blush. She put a white-ish base on my face first but you couldn't really see it. Then, when the boys showed we sent Favio, Evodio and Tilo to go buy me some false eyelashes from a store nearby. While they were there, the lady at the store asked if they were for Favio and Favio said that they were his!!! My make-up was the least complicated and so I had some time to kill and so I just watched everyone else getting their makeup done. Maya was a mime, Lore was Frankie Stein from Monster High, Mafer was Draculaura also from Monster High, Ana was a geisha doll, Lina a very unassuming barbie doll, Favio was Dora the Explorer (he told us that was what he was going to be but we didn't believe him until he brought a huge Dora head with the rest of his costume to Kevin's house!), Evodio and Toño were robots, Diego a lucha libre, I don't know what Tilo was, Andres was a ??? and Kevin was a cowboy.
The most torturous part was before actually dancing. We practiced at a church and then just to be mean (well maybe not, but still) they made us walk to the center in our costumes and make-up. Mafer and I held hands and squeezed each others fingers off from all the awkwardness. We all kept walking and kept our eyes down so no-one would recognize us. It was that awkward!!!!!
We got there and all the other secundaries in the city were there but they all were getting ready to do music and recite stuff or dance traditional Mexican dances while we were there in makeup ready to dance to JLo and pitbull. Yeah, it was sort of awkward (you can tell I am verging on thirteen from the number of times that I use the word awkward!). We had to wait like an hour and a half till it was our turn so I stood and sat around being nervous and trying to hide from people on my soccer team (I saw Lenny and Alan). We ate some food and Lore and I stretched to get ready to do the splits. We moved closer to the stage and some guy named Fabricio came over from the group of Pequeño Sol (they did a capoeira thing) and said that we looked good which was nice. Aparently he is the younger brother of someone some people know and Karla had a debate about which one was sweeter, Fabricio or his brother. He saw that I was looking really nervous and said "tranquila" which was pretty nice (it means like be calm). We walked onto the stage and I had very little nervousness after that. The dance went well and I could do the flips! Everyone said we did really great and I felt really good about it! Lorena drove me to my house and that was the last day of school till three days before my birthday. I am pretty disapointed that I have to have my birthday during school but better a Wednesday than a Tuesday!!
Well, before all this happened, our family along with my grandparents went to the beach. It was called Boca del Cielo and is one of my favorite places on earth. The sand is dark and glittery, the air is warm and nice and it is just so peaceful. The actual ocean is sort of a dangerous place because of the fact that it has a riptide but we contented ourselves with jumping into the waves and boogie-boarding. On the last night we drew tattoos onto each other with washable tattoo pens. We ate delicious fresh fish and other food and had an overall wonderful time!!

The night we arrived at "Boca del Cielo" (mouth of the sky); this is a picture of us at the restaurant. No, I am not dead!

This is what the roofs of all the huts looked like, this is the roof of the restaurant and those are quotes that they have in the restaurant

The first night when we went out to see the beach

It was pitch black and really hard to see

....So we used some interesting lighting!

Our amazing sand castle

Yeah, it is super pretty there!

Pretty much what we did the whole time!

Those trees in the background are palm trees. See how nice and deserted it is!

My dad tore us away from the water for a bit to take these pictures

Me towards the end of the shoot

At least it paid off

 Well sort of...

My early birthday celebration (I love the beach and couldn't pass up on an offer for an early celebration!)

Nearer to Oscar's real birthday!

The lagoon side of the beach, we have never swum in this part because of the lack of excitement!!

This is what the palapas looked like

Quite a few people every year die from getting hit on the head by a coconut so I walked under these with an extra precaution
